WHAT IS THE BEST FABRIC TO USE FOR PUNCH EMBROIDERY?  
Weavers cloth will always be first choice for punch needle embroidery, and ours is now made for us in white, natural and khaki.  It is soft and flexible and makes no 'popping' sound when punching. It does not need to be pre-laundered lto remove the sizing like so many other brands do.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION #2:
We've been ask "how far will acrylic punch yarn go?" That's a fair question because punch embroidery is a very inexpensive hobby. Yarn usage will, of course, depend on the length of the loop you use. Generally if you are using the second or third setting on your needle you should be able to cover one square inch with two yards of yarn. The longer the loop the more yarn you will use. But when averaged out, your yarn will cost approximately 2 cents per square inch! To my way of thinking,  that's a real bargain!

FOR YOUR INFORMATION #3:
When children, the elderly, handicapped, or anyone for that matter, has trouble holding their hoop for punching, just set the hoop over a plastic bowl. A tupperware bowl of the proper size for your hoop is perfect since some of them have a lip that holds the hoop very well. This also works well for someone who punches while traveling. Just put supplies for your project in the bowl to keep them handy and place the hoop over the bowl...and enjoy! The bowl makes a solid 'stand' and is good for anyone to use if you will be punching for a long while! It's so easy to set it in your lap and use.

PUNCH EMBROIDERY YARNS:
We carry  all available brands of punch embroidery yarns for your convenience. We like to mix yarns brands in one design for more colors. We sometimes include some satin or lustre yarn along with acrylic yarn - or mix some metallic yarn or some ribbon floss.  Anything can be mixed. Its your call and it greatly enhances your designs. Experiment and get even more compliments on your work.

CATALOG PATTERNS:

We are working on puting patterns on our website. A few Pretty Punch patterns are on now, and we will soon be adding Cameo and others. Its a lot of work and takes a lot of time, but we will keep at it until we have a good selection online for you to order.  These patterns are in B/W, and all colors needed are listed. For the most part they are different than the patterns in the catalogs.

A brand new rug book..."Punch Needle Rug Hooking" by Amy Oxford, a renowned rug expert, has just been published, and the best part is that it is for PUNCHED YARN RUGS! This book is absolutely outstanding...possibly the best that has ever been published on punched rugs! It illustrates more than 200 punched rugs in color, tells you exactly how to make a punched rug...and about the wonderful tools we have today. We have the rug needles recommended by this book so you will have the very best to work with! What a wonderful book this is. It should be listed at double its price of $24.95! You can see it on our "Books" page. On page 124, 125 and 126 it shows rugs punched by rug expert, Gloria Crouse.

Gloria Crouse's "Hooking Rugs" book and "Hooking Rugs" companion video at $23.95 each or $42.90 for the set are still available! Gloria Crouse is an outstanding specialist in PUNCHED YARN rugs and a wonderful designer who offers many exciting new ideas for punched projects of all kinds. Her book and video are about PUNCHED rugs rather than traditionally 'Hooked' rugs. Many of her ideas can be used for other punch embroidery projects as well as for rugs.
Also new is the book "How To Create Sculpted Tapestries" at $18.00 on the "books" page of the website. These tapestries, when finished, sell for $1000 or more each! Patterns are shown. Click on "books" in the left column.

JUST A NOTE:
Punch Embroidery, as you may know, has been around for generations, but not a week goes by that we don't get 30-40 or more new customers who have never heard about it before! Isn't that incredible? It's one of those old time stitcheries (Originated in the 1500's) that just seems to get better and better! Please keep spreading the word!

A SUGGESTION!
If you are one of the many who outline your design in a contrasting color when you punch (as I often do) then be aware it isn't always necessary to use black though black is the most popular color for outlining. Instead I sometimes use a darker shade of the fill in color to give an area definition. Punch Embroidery lets you do your own thing. If you don't want to outline everything in the same color - no problem. Use what you think will look nice. There is nothing wrong with it! One outlining method that is becoming popular is to use yarn that matches the fabric color you are punching on! Punch Embroidery is for everyone - with as many different ideas as you want to use - so try different things! It will surprise you!

Have you used the beautiful lustre yarn yet?  We  have Cameo, Dee Lite  and Pretty Punch Luster yarn in stock. They are gorgeous yarn with a lusterous sheen and are a wonderful substitute for brands whose manufacturers may no longer offer the beautiful sheen you are looking for. This outstanding yarn is well worth trying in your small hand needle!

Anything you can't find on the order form can be mentioned in the 'comments section' on the order form. We always read it and take care of the items asked for by customers. Some items are added for only a short time and are not listed on the order form individually. The comments section is perfect for this.
